Animal Care bvba - Vets small and large domestic animals

In order to anaesthetize your favourite pet for an operation or dental care we have the disposal of two gas anaesthetics devices at the practice, as well as a whole series of monitoring devices to monitor all the functions of your animal during its sleep.

These devices allow us to anaesthetize even very old animals and animals with heart conditions as safe as possible and to perform operations or dental care.

Dogs can be neutered just before the first heat or three months after each heat. That they first need to have a nest of puppies is a fable.

The advantage of spaying is that the bitch does not get in heat again and that there is no more blood loss in the house. Moreover, the probability of developing uterine tumours, ovary tumours and mammary gland tumours diminishes considerably.

If you do not wish to have several nests of kittens every year you should have your cat spayed.

This is the safest method to avoid having kittens, and the cheapest in the long run. The cat pill is very unsafe. Imagine your cat vomiting after taking that pill, or that you forget giving it and before you know you have four to eight kittens on your hands.

At our practice we have three ultrasound devices. One is a very large device which renders very sharp images but cannot be moved. Therefore, this device is especially destined to pets. The other two devices are movable and can therefore be deployed with horses, cattle, sheep etc. The smallest device is the most practical for gynaecology because it has a battery and enables us to scan on any location.

Horses are usually castrated at the age of 2 years. Preferably, this is done in spring or autumn so that horses do not have to endure so many flies. In winter it is often too cold to perform a complete anaesthetic on a horse as it will get in a hypothermic state too fast. It is also best when a horse can move a lot after castration because by standing still the castration wound and the shaft of the horse swell too much.
