At our practice we have a portable digital radiography device that can be deployed with horses and other large domestic animals.
This is the optimal device to take photographs of limping horses as shown on the first image here below, a horse with a broken phalange.
This device is also widely used to examine horses at the time of purchase, as it allows to see the images directly on a laptop screen and to record them on a CD.
This involves taking about ten photographs of the most important joints of sport horses at the time of purchase. This way we ensure these horses do not have any hereditary or acquired anomalies which may cause them to limp sooner or later. Like with navicular or OCD for example.
